The initial consultation

Your consultation is the first and most important step in your treatment journey. It is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for me to understand what you would like to achieve.

I will begin by asking you what it is that you do not like about the area you are concerned with, and what changes you are hoping to see. This helps me build a clear picture of your goals. I will also examine you carefully to establish your starting point. By combining this with what you hope to achieve, we can begin mapping a treatment journey that takes you from where you are now to where you would like to be.

Sometimes this journey can be completed in a single procedure. At other times, a staged approach may be safer or more appropriate. In some cases, patients achieve their desired results without needing every stage of the initial plan. If there are several realistic options available, I will explain them to you, outlining the benefits and drawbacks of each approach.

Your medical history is also an essential part of the consultation. I will ask about any health conditions, medication, or previous treatments you have had in the area of concern, and we will go into detail where necessary. Occasionally, I will take photographs to help with assessment and planning. In certain procedures, such as rhinoplasty, I may also use image manipulation to demonstrate potential outcomes. This can be done by me or by a member of my team, and the images are always checked before being shared with you.

Once the consultation with me is complete, you will usually meet one of my patient care co-ordinators. They will guide you through the next steps, whether that is booking your treatment, taking some time to think things over, or deciding not to proceed. If you are suitable for surgery, you will typically receive a written summary of the consultation by email. This ensures you have a clear record of what we discussed and the options available to you.

I see the consultation as the start of your journey. It is where we plan together, set realistic expectations, and decide on the best route to reach your goals safely and effectively.

Realistic Outcomes

Cosmetic surgery enhances your natural features — it won’t create a completely new you. Expect subtle, proportionate improvements that align with your own appearance.

Informed Decisions

You’ll receive honest guidance, not sales talk. Mr Shoaib will explain what is achievable, what isn’t, and help you make the right decision for your goals and lifestyle.

Expert Hands

With decades of surgical experience and thousands of procedures performed, you’re in the care of a trusted UK consultant with a global reputation for excellence.

Time to Heal

Recovery takes time — swelling and bruising are normal. Full results may take several months to appear, and patience is key to satisfaction.

Support Throughout

From consultation to aftercare, you’re supported at every stage. You’ll have access to follow-up appointments, recovery advice, and someone to answer your concerns.

Mental Readiness Matters

Cosmetic surgery can boost confidence, but it’s not a cure-all. Emotional readiness and realistic expectations are essential for long-term happiness with your outcome.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions About Your Consultation

How long does a consultation last?

Most consultations take around 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the complexity of your concerns. If we are discussing multiple procedures or a more detailed treatment plan, it may take a little longer.

What should I bring to my consultation?

It is helpful to bring a list of any medication you are taking, details of any previous surgery or treatments in the area of concern, and any relevant medical information. Some patients also bring photographs that illustrate their goals, which can be useful for discussion.

Will photographs be taken during the consultation?

In many cases, clinical photographs are taken to establish a starting point for your records. For procedures such as rhinoplasty, photographs may also be digitally adjusted to show potential outcomes. These images are confidential and form part of your medical record.

Do I have to make a decision straight away?

Not at all. After your consultation, you may choose to proceed immediately, take time to think things over, or decide not to move forward. Many patients prefer to reflect on the information before making a decision.

What happens if I am not suitable for surgery?

If surgery is not the right option for you, I will explain why and may recommend alternative treatments. My priority is your safety and achieving realistic, positive outcomes.

Who will I meet after my consultation?

Following your consultation with me, you will usually meet one of my patient care co-ordinators. They will guide you through the administrative side of the next steps, whether that is booking a procedure or simply providing further information for you to consider.

Will I receive a summary of the consultation?

Yes. If you are suitable for surgery, you will usually receive a written summary by email. This ensures you have a clear record of the discussion and the options available.
