Breast augmentation uses implants to increase breast size and improve shape. It's one of the most popular cosmetic procedures, and when performed well, the results can look and feel natural.
I take time to understand what you want to achieve and help you choose implants that will complement your body. Using 3D imaging technology, I can show you how different sizes and shapes might look on your frame.
Round implants provide fullness throughout the breast, particularly in the upper pole. Anatomical (teardrop) implants mimic the natural breast shape with more volume at the bottom.
I primarily use textured implants as they have a lower rate of capsular contracture and positional changes. Smooth implants may be appropriate in certain cases.
Implants can be placed under the breast tissue (subglandular) or under the chest muscle (submuscular). The best option depends on your anatomy and the look you want to achieve.
Breast augmentation is typically performed under general anaesthesia as a day case. I use an incision in the fold beneath the breast (inframammary fold), which heals to become a fine line hidden in the natural crease.
You'll wear a support bra for 6 weeks after surgery. Most patients return to desk work within a week and can resume exercise after 6 weeks. The implants will settle into their final position over 3-6 months.
I'll discuss all risks in detail during your consultation.
Modern implants are designed to last many years, but they're not lifetime devices. Many patients have their implants for 15-20 years or more without issues. I recommend monitoring with regular check-ups.
Yes, most women can breastfeed after augmentation. The incision technique I use (inframammary fold) minimises any impact on milk ducts and nipple sensation.
Size selection is based on your chest measurements, existing breast tissue, and desired outcome. I use 3D imaging to help you visualise different sizes on your body.
